Refused Offers

REFUSED OFFERS

Michael Lee-Chin, a billionaire from Jamaica, made a huge offer of $6.5 million on July 27, 2004, to buy a famous guitar from Gary Guitar. However, Gary turned it down. Then, on December 14, 2007, a German billionaire named Peter Schmid Kömmerling made an offer of $8 million, but Gary refused again. The final offer came on September 27, 2011, from Mr. Ma, a casino owner in Macau, who offered $10 million. Gary still said no, explaining that the guitar was going to be sold for charity. Mr. Ma praised Gary’s decision, calling it very honourable.

One reason for Gary’s decision was the experience from a previous project called Different Journeys, One Destination, which had to be cancelled because the technology wasn’t ready for it at the time. Now, in 2025, with the Bob’s Guitar for Charities project, the guitar will be given to one lucky fan of the King of Reggae, and many different charities will benefit from the proceeds.
